In 2025, a business website costs anywhere from $3,000 for a simple template build to $250,000+ for a complex custom platform. Most small-to-mid businesses we work with land between $5,000 and $30,000.
The honest answer? It depends on what the site needs to do. A brochure site that builds credibility is a very different product from an e-commerce store or a customer portal.
What drives the price
Five factors dominate website cost: the number of custom pages, the design depth, integrations (payments, CRM, booking), content production, and who’s building it.
A custom design with bespoke illustrations costs more than a refined template. An API integration that syncs inventory costs more than a contact form. There are no shortcuts — only trade-offs.
Cost by website type
Business brochure site: $3,000–$8,000. Marketing site with CMS: $8,000–$20,000. E-commerce store: $10,000–$60,000. Web application: $25,000–$150,000+. These are the ranges we see and quote every day.
The spread exists because a ten-product Shopify store and a thousand-SKU multi-warehouse operation are completely different engineering problems.
The hidden costs
Budget for what comes after launch: hosting ($20–$500/month), maintenance, security updates, and ongoing content or SEO. Together these typically run 10–20% of the build cost annually.
Skipping maintenance is the most expensive mistake we see — a neglected site quietly loses speed, rankings, and trust.
How to budget smart
Start with your business case, not a number. What does the site need to achieve? Define must-haves vs. nice-to-haves, and phase the build so you launch a strong version fast and iterate with real data.
Get at least three quotes — but compare scope, not just price. The cheapest quote often excludes the integrations and content that make a site actually work.
